Along the break

Israel

The Great Rift Valley is a geographic trench that runs from Lebanon to Mozambique. A topographic phenomenon which crosses contemporary Israel, carving out the Jordan River, the Sea of Galilee and the Dead Sea while shaping the country physical borders.
I borrow the idea of the American Road trip and import its notion into the restricted Israeli territory, confronting the ‘BREAK’ as a metaphor of ideological and social crisis well represented in the landscape. The personal is woven through the political and portray a unique perspective.
Using a large format camera, I reorganize the materials of reality into an alternative entity and transform the relics into monuments. Pictorial and provoking, yet tinged with irony and underlying ideological tones. This journey is an ongoing dialogue between the ordinary and the sublime.
