In 2006, the United Arab Emirates decided to build a « zero carbon, zero waste” autonomous zone located 30km East of the capital Abu Dhabi. The Masdar project is a perfect example of land use planning linking architecture and environmental technologies based on the assumption of what could be called the “post-oil era”. My approach is to show the backstage of this constantly evolving construction project. A journey that has allowed me to come up with some observations regarding human nature, architecture and the landscape of the city.
